35mm slides

SLIDES FROM COREL PRESENTATIONS

PhotoGraphic Specialties is a Corel Approved Service Bureau which uses Corel Presentations to make 35mm slides. We can accept Corel / Word Perfect Presentations .shw files. You must let us know what version of Corel / Word Perfect Presentations you used to create the presentation.

The page size and text layout must be set correctly for our 35mm film recorder. If you do not set the file up correctly, your image will not completely fill the slide. Note that the instructions are different for versions 7, 8 and 10.

For Version 10:

When you start to create your slide presentation in Corel Presentations, go to the drop-down menus in the upper left of your screen; click on "File", then "Page Setup". Set the Orientation to Landscape. Click "Add" to create a new form, and call it "35mm slide". Set the type to "Transparency" and the Size to "User Defined" size of 11" Horizontal and 7.33" vertical. Margins should be set to .25" on all sides, and we suggest turning your rulers on so that you can more easily see the .25" areas at the edges of the slide which should not have text in them. Save your file as a .shw file.

When you save your file, go to the drop-down menu in the upper left of your screen; check the box "Embed Fonts Using TrueDoc". We have on our machine all the fonts which came with Corel Presentations 10 as well as with Windows, but they are not all installed for use at the same time. If you use non-standard fonts, you must tell us the ones you used or embed them. If you do not, there will be no way for us to know which fonts we must install for your job, and your slides will show the wrong font (Courier New is the default).

We have created a 35mm slide template for Corel Presentations that you can download and use at no charge. We also have some general design guidelines and sample slides for you to see how you can create professional-looking slides easily.

For Version 8:

When you start to create your slide presentation in Corel Presentations, go to the drop-down menus in the upper left of your screen; click on "File", then "Page Setup".

On the "Size" tab, check to see if you have a Page definition for 35mm slides at 11 x 7.33 inches, landscape orientation. If so, choose that page size. If you do not see such a page size, click the "New" button. For "Name", type "35mm Slide"; for "Type", choose "Other"; for "Size", choose "User Defined Size; for "Width", type "11"; for "Height", type "7.33"; for "Source", choose "Auto Select". For "Printing adjustments", choose "0" and "0". For "Font orientation", choose "Rotated"; for "Paper feed", choose "Long edge" . Then click the "OK" button.

On the "Margins" tab, set all four margins to "0".

If you use a different page shape, the text and clip art on your 35mm slides will be in slightly different places on your slides than they were on your computer screen.

Before you save your file, go to the drop-down menu in the upper left of your screen; click on "File," then "Properties." In the "Comments" box list the fonts you have used in the presentation. We have on our machine all the fonts which came with Corel Presentations 8.0 as well as with Windows, but they are not all installed for use at the same time. If you use non-standard fonts, you must tell us the ones you used. If you do not tell us, there will be no way for us to know which fonts we must install for your job, and your slides will show the wrong font (Courier New is the default).

When you are ready to save your file, go to the drop-down menu in the upper left of your screen; choose "File," then "Save." Send us the resulting Presentations .shw file.

For Version 7:

When you start to create your slide presentation in Corel Presentations, go to the drop-down menus in the upper left of your screen; click on "Format", then "Page Setup".

For "Name", type "35mm Slide"; for "Type", choose "Other"; for "Size", choose "User Defined Size; for "Width", type "11"; for "Height", type "7.33". For "Printing adjustments", choose "0" and "0". For "Font orientation", choose "Normal"; for "Paper feed", choose "Long edge"; for "Paper source", choose "Auto Select". Then click the "OK" button.

Photographic Specialties is no longer producing slides and transparencies. I have been self-employed for 35 years, but looking forward to retirement since my wife died five years ago. With the decline of conventional photography and the recent recession, the availability of film and chemicals as well as the volume of work has declined to such an extent that it is no longer possible to have fresh chemicals to develop film. I hope that if you still need conventional slides and transparencies, you will be able to find someone who can produce them for you. Thank you for your orders over the years.
