SmartDraw sets the page size of your slides from your currently selected printer, so select a printer that can print on 8.5 x 11 inch paper. When you create your file, go to the drop-down menu in the upper left of your screen; choose "File," then "Page Setup." Set the paper size as "8.5 x 11 inches" and "Landscape Orientation." You may need vertical slides - if so, you may choose "Portrait Orientation" but portrait and landscape pages must not be saved together in the same file.


The result will be 35mm slides which have black areas on two sides, as slides have a slightly different shape than 8.5 x 11 inch paper. However, the black areas will not project and you will lose nothing from your page.


We have created a 35mm slide template and icon for SmartDraw that you to download and use at no charge. These should be placed in your SmartDraw\Templates folder. We also have some general design guidelines and sample slides for you to see how you can create professional-looking slides easily.
